COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MINISTRY
At The Peoples Church, we believe that serving the community is an integral part of spirituality. As part of that dedication, we’ve created a number of ways to enrich the spiritual lives of those in our community and beyond, through education, worship, fellowship and outreach.
The Community Engagement Ministry committee, under the direction and with the approval of the Council of Elders, shall recommend and impelement the disbursement of benevolence moneys, encourage the active involvement of the congregation in responding to issues of Christian Concern locally, nationally and internationally, and recommend and implement caring ministries, including pastoral and lay ministers of care to those in need.
TOGETHER WE MADE A DIFFERENCE!
Fourteen people turned out on a gorgeous fall day to represent The Peoples Church in this year’s CROP Hunger Walk. Walk supporters generously contributed $3,376, including $177 for the children and youth coin challenge. And true to his word, Pastor Drew lugged the coin-filled water jugs as he walked! Thanks to all of you who walked and donated, we did our part to provide food and clean water to people in need. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds will stay here in our own community to benefit organizations such as the Southside Community Kitchen, the Greater Lansing Food Bank, and Volunteers of America. Well done, my friends! Thank you!
