COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MINISTRY
At The Peoples Church, we believe that serving the community is an integral part of spirituality. As part of that dedication, we’ve created a number of ways to enrich the spiritual lives of those in our community and beyond, through education, worship, fellowship and outreach.
The Community Engagement Ministry committee, under the direction and with the approval of the Council of Elders, shall recommend and impelement the disbursement of benevolence moneys, encourage the active involvement of the congregation in responding to issues of Christian Concern locally, nationally and internationally, and recommend and implement caring ministries, including pastoral and lay ministers of care to those in need.
PERSONAL NEEDS BANK
In Partnership with our East Lansing neighbors at All Saints Episcopal Church, The Peoples Church supports Christian Services of Greater Lansing to provide “personal needs” supplies for local families.
You can support the Personal Needs Bank in a variety of ways:
- Drop off donated items in our Personal Needs Bank collection baskets located at the Welcome Center, as well as in the Main Sanctuary and McCune Chapel.
- Volunteer to help out with distribution logistics.
- Give your financial support through the offertory baskets. Note “Personal Needs Bank” in the memo line of your check or a blank envelope containing your gift.
The “personal needs” items we are in need of for distribution on an ongoing basis are:
- Bar Soap
- Sanitary Pads
- Baby Wipes
- Disposable Razors
- Shaving Cream
- Dish Soap
- Paper Towels
- Facial Tissue
