Fall ProgramsView the Fall Welcome Back Poster Chapel ServicesChildren attend Sunday School during the 10:30 (9:30 in the summer) Sunday Morning Worship. In order to give them some experience or “practice” attending church, there are Chapel Services once per quarter. 3-year-olds through 5th grade are invited to their own special church service in one big group in the Chapel. Past “Sermons” have encompassed World Communion Sunday, One Great Hour of Sharing, The Ten Commandments, Ecumenical Sunday, Respect, Responsibility and Religion, The Good Samaritan, Christmas Traditions, Lent, and the Resurrection. The services are upbeat, involve music and have some interactive element. Children are encouraged to ask questions, help with the service and to participate in discussion. 2009-2010 Chapel Service schedule: October 25, 2009 January 17, 2010 April 18, 2010 Christmas Eve ServicesThere are two services on Wednesday, December 24, 2009 at 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. The 6:00 service is geared toward families of all ages and sizes. . Children’s Mothers Day ServiceChildren as young as 3 to as old as 11 participate in this heart-warming service in celebration of Mother’s Day. The Carol Choir sings; young 5s, kindergarten and 3rd grade children receive their Bibles participate in the worship service; attendance awards are distributed and the children recap their year in Sunday School. This year’s service is Sunday, May 9, 2010 at 10:30. Carol ChoirCarol Choir is open to all children in 1st through 5th grades. No previous singing experience is needed and children can join any time. Rehearsal takes place in Room 301 from 9:30 to 10:10 a.m. most Sundays and the choir sings in church about once a month. This is a great way to get your child involved and frees up parents to attend our outstanding adult education classes offered at the same time. Report to Mrs. Reed in Room 301 if your child would like to participate. 2009-2010 Carol Choir Rehearsal Schedule Christian Children’s FundThe Children of Peoples Church sponsor three friends through the Christian Children’s Fund. They are: - David Anthony Mar (boy), Age 12, Texas
- Bianca Dias Motta (girl), Age 11, Brazil
- Kattiyaporn Saenkham (girl), Age 12, Thailand
All of the “Children’s Offering” money collected at the Children’s Moment on Sundays is sent to provide food, clothing, shelter and programming for these children. The children are assigned to Sunday School classes that correspond with each other at least once per quarter. This is a great way to teach children to give of themselves, especially to those less fortunate. Participation is completely voluntary and is the decision of the child and their family. Hygiene KitsOur entire church is making Hygiene Kits as our Lenten Outreach project. Church World Service accepts the kits, sends them to several warehouses and has them ready to meet the needs of those facing a disaster. Most of their kits on-hand went to service people in Haiti who suffered a massive earthquake on January 12, 2010. Church World Service is using our kits to replenish their supply and equip others in the future. To make a Hygiene kit, collect the following items and place them in a gallon-size Ziplock bag: - One hand towel measuring approximately 16" x 28" (no fingertip or bath towels)
- One washcloth
- One wide-tooth comb
- One nail clipper
- One bar of sap (bath size in wrapper)
- One toothbrush (in original packaging)
- Six standard size Band-Aids®
Please bring your kits in and place them in the designated baskets in the Peoples Church Information Areas by Easter Sunday, April 4. Thank you so much for your participation in this project. For more information, go to www.churchworldservice.org.
