The Children's Christian Education Program is a source of pride for The Peoples Church. There are many opportunities for children, from infants through 5th grade, to being involved in worship, fellowship and education! We invite your family to be involved in any of the programs we offer.
Below is a list of our regular, weekly offerings throughout the school year. We also have several special events and an annual Christmas Pageant. Julie Bills, Children's Christian Education Director, will happily answer any questions and provide more information! She can be reached at email@example.com or 517.908.4448.
9:30-10:15 a.m.: Carol Choir (Returns in September) - Our children's choir, directed by the talented and welcoming Elizabeth Reed, is for students ages 5 years through 5th grade. Carol Choir performs in worship throughout the school year. No singing experience needed to join! Rehearsals take place on the third floor of the church.
10:30 a.m.: Sunday School - Sunday School is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn age appropriate lessons related to the worship service topic. This summer, the children are focusing on the Fruit of the Spirit.
Children through 5th grade are invited to participate in Sunday School following the Children’s Moment during service. If your child is 3 years through 5th grade, please be sure to check-in your child at one of the kiosks located in Friendship Hall, prior to worship service, to receive a name tag for your child. Following the Children’s Moment, Julie Bills, Children’s Christian Education Director, will lead the children to the classrooms on the third floor for Sunday School. At the conclusion of worship, you may pick up your child on the third floor; please show the security code you received at check-in to the teacher.
Infants and toddlers can be checked in and taken to their classrooms prior to church starting. The infant and toddler room is staffed with childcare professionals and is located on the second floor.
Children are also always welcome to remain in worship. Noises and wiggling are signs of a church that is alive and growing; your entire family is welcome!
11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.: Dance 149 (Returns in September) - Dance 149 is faith-based dancing for children ages 4 years - 5th grade. All skill levels welcome and there is no charge to participate. The dancers lead the Call to Worship several times throughout the school year. Dance 149 is choreographed and taught by the talented Jodi Cook.
Wednesday Night Live! is our mid-week programming option with something for everyone!
5:30 p.m.: Community Meal - Church members and community members alike gather in the Snider Social Hall on our lower level for a delicious meal. A free will offering is accepted, but certainly not required. During the summer months, our meal is followed by a brief Communion Service and we usually conclude by about 6:30 p.m. All ages are welcome to participate.
6:00 p.m.: Children's Program Returns in September - Julie Bills takes children up to the third floor to experience the Virtual Bible gaming curriculum and other activities. Their programming ends at 7:30 p.m. when adult programs also wrap up. There is free, professional childcare available during the school year for infants through preschoolers during Wednesday Night Live! as well.
